Last night, I went up to the barn to do my usual animal checks before bedtime, and I was surprised by some new additions: two goat kids from our Nigerian Dwarf doe, Beauty.
We've been keeping her in the barn for the last few weeks as we knew she was pregnant. I didn't expect her to give birth this soon, especially in early February when it's freezing cold here!
They were still wet when we found them, so they hadn't been born for very long; we dried them off, then left them with their mother under the heat lamp.
We checked on them again this morning; mother and babies are doing fine!
